Creative Brief & Information Architecture

Summary and Positioning

Upon the completion of an AAS in both Graphic Design and Interactive Media, I plan to find a job within a marketing department for a company or as part of a small design firm. The strategy for this website is to hook in potential employers with a pleasing arrangement of portfolio pieces and encourage them to get in touch. I want to focus mainly on the web-based work I've done with the inlusion of UX/UI walk-through mockups. Stock mockups should be used sparingly, only when necessary, and with the background not distracting from the actual works.

Goals and Objectives

The purpose for this site is to display my past works in a organized and pleasing manner. The navigation should be minimal yet distictive and you should be able to quickly find what you're looking for. Rather than having a traditional home page, "works" will be the main page and will display both call to actions as well as portfolio pieces. If enough portfolio pieces are shown, a filter should allow the user to select a specific medium, timeframe, or tools used.

Target Audience

While the target audience of this site is employers seeking a new member to their team rather than an invididual looking to hire a freelancer, It should be accessible to all including the general public.

Project Requirements

Strong use of grid with pleasing overall placement of items (both horizontally and vertically. Must be responsive with the mobile version being just as strong as desktop. If the number of pieces would benefit, a filter should be provided. The contact page should have a working form that submits to my professional email address. Social media links should appear wherever relevant to the content and direct the user to my professional accounts. Allow for some of the project thumbnails to animate slightly.
